Thematic session 1. Global water challenges and water cooperation of BRICS countries

The session covers topics related to global water challenges, such as water-related Sustainable Development Goals, access to clean water for people living in arid areas and by vulnerable population groups, water-related consequences of climate change, virtual water footprint and related issues. BRICS efforts in addressing these challenges will be highlighted. The session includes up to 8 presentations by researchers, experts and policy-makers followed by Q&A session and discussion.

Thematic session 4. Water-food-energy nexus in support of water security and sustainable water use

Economic and population growth, coupled with ineffective resource use, lead to increasing resource scarcity. Manufacturing, energy industry, and agriculture are among the largest water consumers, while very few companies have closed-loop and lean manufacturing systems in place. The session will feature options for cost-effective green nexus solutions offered by 5 presenters and followed by Q&A or a short discussion.
